This article analyzes the phenomenon of emotional abandonment in Family Law, starting with an approach to the different concepts of family in Brazil and their transformations over time. From this contextualization, the focus is on civil liability in cases of emotional abandonment, highlighting the doctrinal and jurisprudential debate regarding the possibility of compensation for moral damages. The work also examines the impact of the constitutionalization of Civil Law, which reinforces the protection of collective and individual interests in family relationships. Finally, the text emphasizes the preventive and educational function of accountability, seeking to mitigate harmful behaviors in family relationships. The methodology adopted is qualitative in nature, based on bibliographic and documentary analysis.
