This article aims to reflect on the theories, perceptions and challenges, whether theoretical or practical, of academics or professionals in psychology, exploring the essence of the Humanistic approach, addressing its concepts and its main authors such as Maslow, Rogers, May, among others. To this end, a literature review was carried out through scientific studies, making the descriptive text based on the scientific platforms and available bibliographies and classic references on the subject. By knowing the approaches and their authors, academics and professionals end up preparing themselves in a more effective and instrumental way to care for patients, in addition to seeking better techniques and approaches for their activities, whether academic and/or professional, being socially relevant since it scientificates and solidifies the knowledge of psychologists.
