Abstract

This article sought to describe the role of nursing in multidisciplinary interventions to assist congenital hydrocephalus, aiming to contribute to improving the care and well-being of newborns affected by this condition. This is a literature review with a qualitative approach, with research on the following bases: healthy", "childhood" and "health promotion", searched in relevant databases, such as United States National Library of Medicine (PUBMED), Scientific Electronic Online Library (Scielo) and Virtual Health Library (VHL) through the keywords: “Nursing” [and] “Newborn hydrocephalus” [and] nursing care” in the period from 2019 to 2023. It was observed that in the care of a newborn with hydrocephalus, the relevance of the Nursing Care Systematization (SAE) process stands out, defined as a planned and organized process, under the responsibility of the nurse. It is noted that hydrocephalus not only requires medical and surgical approaches. advances, but also highlights the importance of specialized nursing care, emotional support for parents and effective coordination of long-term care. Collaboration between healthcare professionals and family members is essential to face challenges and promote well-being and well-being. quality of life of people affected by this complex condition.
