This work carries out an in-depth analysis of Law No. 12,318/2010, whose importance lies in preventing and combating parental alienation, a phenomenon that can have negative effects on relationships between parents and children. From this perspective, this study aims to understand the negative consequences for children when Law No. 12,318/2010 is not properly executed by public authorities. The research focuses on reviewing the provisions of Law No. 12,318/2010, examining the criteria and elements it establishes for identifying and approaching cases of parental alienation, in addition to investigating the sanctions and protective measures provided for by it. The research adopts a deductive methodological approach and is based mainly on bibliographical sources, seeking to provide a critical and thorough interpretation of legislation that affects early childhood and issues related to child custod. The research reiterates the fact that Law No. 12,318/2010 represents a significant milestone in protecting children's rights and preserving healthy family bonds by addressing the issue of parental alienation. Final considerations indicate that: This legislation plays a crucial role in establishing legal mechanisms to curb and prevent parental alienation, which occurs when one of the parents or guardians manipulates the child with the aim of harming the child's relationship with the other parent, in addition to offer legal tools to identify, combat and remedy cases of parental alienation.
