This article sought to analyze the biological mechanisms through which photobiomodulation works, including promoting cell proliferation, modulating the inflammatory response and improving collagen synthesis, highlighting the fundamental role of nurses in this process. This is a bibliographic review with a qualitative approach, where data search sites were used, such as in the databases: PUBMED, SCOPUS AND WEB OF SCIENCE, through the descriptors: photobiomodulation; Wound healing; Nursing care. It is observed that nurses play a crucial role when applying this therapy, from the initial assessment of the wound to the monitoring of patients. Additionally, they are responsible for educating patients about the procedure, its benefits, and home care to optimize results. It is therefore concluded that photobiomodulation shows promise in the treatment of wounds, and nurses' actions are essential to promote healing and improve the quality of life of affected patients. It is considered essential to invest in the ongoing training and professional development of nurses to guarantee the effectiveness and safety of this type of therapy.
