Bariatric surgery has emerged as one of the most effective interventions in the management of morbid obesity, providing significant weight loss and improvement in associated comorbidities. This integrative review aimed to analyze the postoperative results in patients with morbid obesity who underwent different types of bariatric procedures, with an emphasis on outcomes related to weight loss, control of comorbidities, complications, and quality of life. Studies published between 2010 and 2023 in the PubMed, Scopus, and LILACS databases were analyzed. The results indicated that bariatric surgery, especially gastric bypass, is highly effective in sustained weight loss and in the remission of diseases such as type 2 diabetes and hypertension. However, long-term complications, such as nutritional deficiencies and weight regain, require continuous multidisciplinary monitoring. It is concluded that bariatric surgery is an essential tool in the treatment of morbid obesity, as long as it is accompanied by adequate clinical support.
