The aim of this study was to carry out a survey of the causes and incidence of trauma to the middle third of the face in patients treated in the Oral and Maxillofacial Traumatology department at the Teresina Emergency Hospital between 2022 and 2023. A total of 153 cases were selected and data was collected on age, gender, month of treatment, etiology of trauma and classification of trauma. The results showed that 82.30% of traumas occurred in males; the age group most involved was over 30 (61.50%); the most frequent etiology was motorcycle accidents with helmets (35.95%); the orbito-maxillo-facial complex was the region most affected, accounting for 67.32% of cases; the months with the highest flows of attendances were April and September (17 attendances each month). Thus, it can be seen that fractures of the orbito-zygomatic-maxillary complex (OZM) were present in all the patients analyzed and it is clear that further studies should be carried out to better analyze and treat this facial structure.
