Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is considered a disease with high morbidity and mortality, representing a significant challenge for public health. In its last stage, the kidneys lose their function, requiring renal replacement therapy. In this context, the epidemiological study allows the identification of a distribution pattern in the population and main etiologies, contributing to the definition of management strategies and improved prognosis. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the epidemiological and clinical profile of individuals with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis in a public hospital in Minas Gerais. METHOD: This is an observational, quantitative, descriptive, prospective and cross-sectional study, through the evaluation of data from medical records in the outpatient clinic of the public hospital in Minas Gerais, from October 2023 to December 2023. The data collected from medical records were: sex, age, smoking, comorbidities, medications in use, length of time affected by the disease and etiology of CKD. RESULTS: 71 medical records of hemodialysis patients were evaluated, of which 33 were female (46%) and 38 male (54%). The average age found was 54.83 years with a standard deviation of 16.69 years. The most common disease among the patients observed was Arterial Hypertension, present in 58 patients (82%). However, with regard to the etiology of CKD, the most significant number was undetermined etiologies (N=23, 32%), followed by Diabetic Nephropathy (N=22, 31%). CONCLUSION: From the detailed analysis of the clinical and epidemiological profile of hemodialysis patients, it is possible to highlight the need for personalized and integrated approaches in the management of this condition, by understanding the facets of CKD, from risk factors to clinical interventions, in order to mitigate the burden of CKD and ensure a better quality of life for patients.
