This study focuses on analyzing the legacy of Dom Pedro I, Emperor of Brazil, and the historical and cultural significance of his role in the formation of national identity. The research delves into the event "A burning heart: life and legacy of D. Pedro I", which celebrated the emperor, emphasizing the complexities inherent in organizing an event of such scale. The study addresses the concept of temporary admission, a customs regime that permits the temporary importation of goods, such as art relics, without the imposition of taxes. In this context, the study examines the primary stakeholders in foreign trade and their roles in the importation of art relics for exhibitions, including those featured in the event in question. Moreover, the research investigates public transparency regarding the financial expenditures related to the event, identifying a significant gap in the availability of precise data on the costs incurred. This lack of transparency is analyzed as a barrier to effective oversight and social accountability, raising critical concerns about the management of public resources in cultural and historical events. Consequently, this study contributes to the broader discourse on the legacy of historical figures, the complexities of customs operations involving works of art, and the crucial role of transparency in public administration.
