Splenic rupture is a critical medical condition that usually results from abdominal trauma, often requiring surgical intervention to avoid fatal complications. Splenectomy, which involves the complete removal of the spleen, is the most common approach, especially in cases of hemodynamic instability. However, due to the importance of the spleen in immunity, splenic preservation methods, such as splenorrhaphy and selective embolization, have been explored as alternatives. These methods aim to preserve immune function by controlling bleeding. Although splenectomy is still widely used, splenic preservation has gained prominence in recent literature due to its ability to reduce long-term complications. The choice between the approaches depends on a detailed clinical assessment of the patient, taking into account the severity of the lesion and associated conditions.
