The mechanism of childbirth, a complex and multifaceted process, has garnered increasing interest in medical literature, particularly regarding the influence of maternal and fetal factors in determining the type of delivery and its outcomes. This integrative review aimed to examine the various stages and variables that modulate the process, emphasizing the importance of an individualized approach based on clinical parameters such as fetal position, cervical conditions, and maternal health status. Additionally, obstetric interventions such as labor induction and elective cesarean section were analyzed, assessing the benefits and risks associated with each procedure. Factors like parity, maternal age, body mass index, and previous complications were considered determinants in the choice of delivery method. The conclusion underscores the lack of consensus on the best practice, highlighting the need for future studies to address existing gaps, particularly in promoting safe and respectful childbirth.
