The vaccination against poliomyelitis is one of the main public health tools for the eradication of this disease, which can cause paralysis and even death in children. This study analyzes the importance of poliomyelitis vaccination in the southern region of Brazil, using epidemiological data and vaccination coverage statistics. The research seeks to understand the relationship between the vaccination rate and the incidence of poliomyelitis, as well as the factors influencing vaccination adherence in this region. Through a quantitative approach, data were collected from official sources, such as the Sistema de Informação do Programa Nacional de Imunizações (SI-PNI) and DATASUS. The results indicate that, despite significant advances in vaccination coverage, there are still challenges to be faced, such as vaccine hesitancy and misinformation. The study concludes that vaccination remains essential for the protection of children's health and the prevention of poliomyelitis outbreaks, highlighting the need for educational campaigns and community engagement strategies.
