The aim of this study was to identify the main groups that can be influenced by the restrictive diet to lead to an eating disorder. To carry out this research, an integrative review study of a descriptive nature was carried out. The period of this research took place in the search for articles in the month of May 2021, using the database of the Virtual Health Library (VHL). The following descriptors in Health Sciences (DeCS) were used: Food; Eating disorders; Restrictive diets, interspersed by the Boolean operator AND. The results mention that the articles say that the female audience is the most affected, this is because women are more likely to be uncomfortable with their body image. Restrictive diets are used by several people, especially teenagers, and the use of these diets provides a feeling of drowsiness, indisposition and general malaise. The use of social networks and internet media influences people to go on dangerous diets called fad diets. The use of substances to lose weight combined with restrictive diets, lead most adolescents to eating disorders and that society itself brings the image of the beautiful and standard person, as a thin person, without much muscle. Therefore, it is concluded that restrictive diets must be combined with nutritional monitoring, since these diets, carried out according to their bodily needs, have greater results than taken at random. By eating the right diet, eating disorders can reduce their prevalence and incidence rate, especially in this social group mentioned above.
