In recent years, Brazil has witnessed a new model of organized crime attack, primarily targeting bank agencies in small towns, using heavy weaponry to neutralize public security institutions. This type of attack has been referred to by the police community as the "new cangaço." Police institutions across Brazil have been developing and improving their efforts to combat this type of violence directly. Aiming for effectiveness, the Military Police of Paraná has established strategic plans that structure their training, visions, and basic institutional principles to combat all types of organized crime. Thus, this study aims to associate the strategic measures adopted by the Military Police of Paraná in confronting the New Cangaço through an exploratory bibliographic review. It was possible to explore key concepts of this new crime model, as well as elucidate the preventive and intervention measures of the Military Police of the state of Paraná.
