The term quality of life (QOL) has been used as a definition for a person's complete well-being. Studies show that QOL can be compromised by the acquisition of a disability, but that practicing sports can reduce negative impacts by offering a wide range of benefits. Objective: To review the scientific literature on sports practice and QOL from the perspective of obtaining its benefits among military personnel with disabilities. Method: Narrative literature review study. Results: It was evident that practicing sports promotes a series of physical, emotional and social benefits for people with disabilities. Conclusion: Sports practice proves to be an effective method for promoting QOL in military personnel with disabilities, with the Paralympic military program being presented as one of the forms of intervention to obtain these benefits.
