The mastic tree (Schinus terebinthifolius) is a plant traditionally used in herbal medicine due to its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and healing properties. This work is in its embryonic phase and aims to systematically review the therapeutic efficacy of aroeira, evaluating its clinical applications and potential benefits. A narrative literature review was carried out, analyzing articles and books. The methodology included the careful selection of clinical studies and systematic reviews. The results indicate that aroeira extracts have significant activity against pathogenic bacteria, in addition to promoting wound healing and relieving inflammation. Preliminary clinical studies also suggest benefits in the treatment of various types of diseases (Melo et al., 2007). However, there is a need for more controlled clinical trials to confirm these effects and establish safe dosages. It is concluded that mastic is a promising alternative in phytotherapy, with the potential to complement conventional treatments.
