This article aims at “Covid 19 Crisis and the Brazilian Retail Sector: An Analysis of Management Reports and Company Evolution from 2017 to 2022”. The topic is of great relevance, considering that the issue directly affects Brazilian families and their quality of life. The main objective of this research is to examine and quantify the impact of the pandemic on the Brazilian retail sector, assessing the profitability of retail companies during this period. As a secondary objective, it is proposed to analyze, among the four selected companies, which one showed better financial performance in pandemic times. Regarding the methodology, a research was conducted on the official websites of the selected companies, in order to extract accounting and financial information between the years 2017 and 2022. Additionally, the research extended to articles and academic works with similar themes. In relation to the applicability of the data, it was chosen to organize the information in indices, represented in graphic models, to illustrate the results obtained in a more detailed way. During the development, theoretical foundations of the researches that served as a basis for this study were presented. Finally, through the analysis of the results, this article presents the final conclusions and proposes questions for future research on other variables that may influence this dynamic sector that is retail trade.
