The present study aimed to analyze the evolution of femicide and domestic violence cases in the State of Tocantins over the past five years (2019-2023), investigating the classification of femicide as a crime and its relationship with domestic violence. The increasing number of cases underscores the urgency of this analysis. A bibliographic and documentary research of a descriptive nature, along with qualitative-quantitative methods, was employed to obtain the data. Information was gathered from official sites such as the Brazilian Public Security Forum, the Tocantins Public Security Secretariat, the Tocantins Court of Justice, and relevant articles and books. The number of domestic violence and, consequently, femicide cases has been rising uncontrollably each year in Brazilian states, which should alarm society. This increase is attributed to the structural machismo that still permeates society. Given this reality, it is essential to promote ongoing debates on the subject due to its alarming nature as a serious public health issue. The search for effective and persistent solutions is indispensable until control over the situation is achieved.
