This study addresses the use of patient images in dental university practices, investigating the ethical and legal alignment in the disclosure of dental services on social media. The research, exploratory and descriptive, is based on a narrative literature review, consulting databases such as PubMed, SciELO, and Brazilian Dental Library for articles published in the last five years. The results highlight the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application of ethical and legal standards, emphasizing the need for clear and effective ethical guidelines to guide responsible practice in the context of social media and technology in university dentistry.
