Ameloblastoma is an odontogenic tumor of epithelial origin and the most common of them. It is a benign, aggressive and slow-growing tumor with a high recurrence rate. The treatments indicated range from enucleation and curettage to resection with a safety margin. The aim of this study was to analyze the possible treatments for ameloblastomas by means of a literature review. The research was carried out in the databases “Scielo” (Scientific Electronic Library Online), Capes journals, Pub Med and the Virtual Health Library using the following descriptors: “Ameloblastoma”, “odontogenic tumor, ‘mandible’. Nineteen publications were selected that were in line with the chosen subject, and the inclusion criterion was: articles that dealt with the treatment of ameloblastomas. Research that did not meet the proposed theme was discarded. This study showed that the treatment of ameloblastomas depends on the extent of the lesion and that the dental surgeon can opt for a more conservative or radical treatment.
