Abstract
The mediation category occupies a prominent place in the formulations of Historical- Cultural Psychology about the processes of human development. The Vygotsky School was concerned with demonstrating the centrality of mediating processes in the constitution of a specifically human psyche, taking mediation as an explanation of the transformation of natural processes into cultural processes. This bibliographical study intends to deepen the notions that compose the concept of mediation in the historical-cultural explanation of the human psyche. In order to do so, it will be used, mainly, the book Activity, Consciousness and Personality of Alex Leontiev, as a reference to explain what has been called mediation in the relation between activity and consciousness. It is hoped that the results of this study may contribute to the increase of the theoretical and practical disciplines that subsidize the educational formation of the psychologist.
