SOLID WASTE IN PORTO VELHO: AN ANALYSIS OF LEGAL ASPECTS IN THE TRANSITION FROM LANDFILLS TO SANITARY LANDFILLS

Abstract

This article addresses the topic of solid waste, focusing on analyzing the effectiveness of legal aspects in the transition from landfills to landfills. The problem lies in analyzing what are the legal mechanisms to implement sanitary landfills in the capital of Porto Velho and how to improve their implementation and transition? Finally, this research aims to analyze the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS) Law No. 12,305/10. From this, investigate Brazilian environmental legislation, in particular the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS), in the context of waste management in Porto Velho, evaluate the adequacy of legal measures in relation to the transition from dumps to landfills, considering how specific regulations and PNRS principles, analyze the environmental and social impacts arising from this transition, highlighting the improvements achieved and the challenges faced. The bibliographic research method was used, with a qualitative and deductive approach, to develop ideas in a conceptual way, interpreting the data found through bibliographic research, scientific articles, theses, books.
