Abstract

The present study aims to describe the pattern of notifications of acquired syphilis registered in the city of Florianópolis. This is a descriptive, retrospective study, with a quantitative approach that analyzed the number of cases of acquired syphilis reported in the city of Florianópolis from January 2012 to December 2019 available in the Notifiable Disease Information System (SINAN). Resulted in 6,942 cases of acquired syphilis were reported in the city of Florianópolis, in 2012 there were 268 notifications, with the following numbers throughout the other years of the historical series: 2013 (435), 2014 (489), 2015 (596), 2016 ( 1,197), 2017 (1,447), 2018 (1,682) and 2019 (828) reported cases. In relation to notification units, 3,693 (53.2%) were notified by the primary health care service, 3,110 (44.8%) in the secondary health care service and 139 (2%) in tertiary service units, the rates incidence rates ranged from 61.87 to 341.19 per 100,000 inhabitants/year. There was an increasing trend in cases from 2016 to 2018 and with a reduction in cases in 2019, with a greater number of cases recorded in individuals residing in areas considered to be of social interest located in the central region of the municipality.
