The focus of this study is on the issue of domestic and family violence against women, analyzing the effectiveness of the urgent protective measures established by the Maria da Penha Law (Law 11,340/2006). The research seeks to promote reflection on the effectiveness of these measures in the face of the reality of domestic violence, based on the legislation in question. The central objective is to investigate the extent to which such protective measures actually manage to protect victims of domestic violence. This work adopts a qualitative approach, being characterized as exploratory research. The method used included a bibliographic survey using primary and secondary sources to support the analysis. The results indicate that the Maria da Penha Law had a partial impact on reducing domestic violence, with some regions of Brazil registering a decrease in cases, while others did not obtain the same results. This finding highlights the ongoing need to evaluate and improve protection measures for women victims of domestic violence, aiming to effectively curb these acts and protect women's human rights.
