URBAN SPATIALITIES OF GOIÂNIA, GO: THEORETICAL REVIEW AND REFLECTIONS FOR THE DEBATE

Abstract

This article shares approaches and reflections on the urban spatialities of Goiânia, Goiás. The work was constructed in two stages: a theoretical literature review and fieldwork carried out in the Jardim América neighborhood and the Alphaville Flamboyant residential area. The field research made it possible to identify the urban spatialities in these two locations, based on landscape analysis and photographic records. The theoretical bases used in this work provided a dialog with different areas of knowledge and constituted approaches anchored in different theoretical perspectives from geography, the humanities and the social sciences. The results of the work reveal that the urban spatialities of Goiânia are characterized by socio-spatial differentiations and comprehensively support an important contemporary debate on social inequalities and the appropriation of urban spaces. The conclusion is that studies anchored in urban spatiality intensify the debate from different perspectives and provide an opportunity to understand various socio-spatial characteristics of Goiânia, presenting (introductory) aspects shaped by questions about place, territoriality, urban landscape and urban spatialities.
