Hip arthroplasty (HA) or also called hip prosthesis (HP) is a recent surgical technique in medicine with applicability in situations where there is compromise of the hip joint with harm to the patient's quality of life. Severe chronic pain is the main symptom, in addition to loss of mobility, weakness of the hip and thigh muscles and difficulty in carrying out daily activities. It can be caused by hip disorders such as osteoarthritis (OA), femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONCF). The procedure is performed by partially or completely replacing the affected joint with a synthetic implant (prosthesis).
