Pain is one of the most frequent and feared symptoms in cancer patients. which, when poorly controlled, significantly interferes with daily activities and negatively influences their quality of life. Thus, this study aimed to survey scientific productions related to nursing care in the assessment and management of cancer pain. This was an integrative review of reading through the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and Google Academic database, carried out in March 2024, totaling 14 bibliographic materials. The results found in this study highlight the following thematic areas: "Challenges and strategies in pain assessment" (4); "Assessment and control of cancer pain (3) and "Knowledge and interventions related to the management of cancer pain (7). It is concluded, therefore, that pain assessment and control must be carried out in a continuous and systematic way, through the use of instruments and protocols, adapting to the individuality of each patient, taking into account, for pain management, the association of pharmacological and non-pharmacological practices. Therefore, it was found that the nurse becomes essential in the assessment and management of these symptoms.
