The topic discussed refers to the importance of nurses in the safety of surgical patients, nurses play an extremely important role in health care, being a professional facilitator in the identification of risks and adverse events, occupying a central position in the process, improving all quality assistance provided. Reporting, comparing and measuring are some of their responsibilities, as well as nurses must collaborate in preventing and promoting patient safety. Materials and Methods: to construct this article, national reference websites were consulted, using a literary review of scientific articles. Results: it is clear to note that the study proposes the impact of nursing professionals on the management and control of adverse events, highlighting the fundamental and indispensable collaboration for better assistance offered to each patient, as well as their families, ensuring greater safety and offering better care. safe, reducing potential risks and promoting better assistance during care. Conclusion: therefore, we can conclude that nurses have a relevant role and great responsibility when it comes to guaranteeing, preventing and promoting the safety of surgical patients.
