New therapies for the treatment of leukemia represent a promising approach in the field of oncology, offering significant therapeutic alternatives for patients with different subtypes of the disease. In this review, we explore the latest therapeutic perspectives, including tyrosine kinase inhibitors, molecular targeted therapies, gene therapy, and immunotherapy, as well as the challenges associated with these therapies. Although these new approaches have demonstrated efficacy in many cases, they face important challenges such as treatment resistance, toxicity, high cost, and limited access. Personalizing treatment, developing strategies to overcome resistance, minimizing toxicity, reducing the cost of therapies, and improving access are key aspects that must be addressed to maximize the positive impact of these innovative therapies. Progress in this field depends on a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach between researchers, healthcare professionals and policymakers, with the aim of improving outcomes and quality of life for patients with leukemia.
