Abstract

Anxiety is the body's natural reaction to situations that cause worry, expectation, uncertainty. However, it can evolve and become a mental health problem as it begins to present lasting physical symptoms and affect the performance of activities and social relationships. There are more and more factors contributing to the presence of an anxious state today, resulting in an increase in the incidence of cases of anxiety disorders. When pharmacological treatment is necessary, psychotropic medications are used, for this reason it is essential to highlight the importance of the pharmaceutical professional who, through pharmaceutical care, can help monitor side effects, improve treatment adherence by the patient, avoid poisoning and drug interactions promoting safety and rational use of medicines.
