Abstract

Burnout Syndrome, also known as professional exhaustion syndrome, is a psychological disorder that mainly affects individuals who face high levels of chronic stress in their work environments. This research investigates the factors that lead nursing professionals, especially those who work in emergency units, to the development of Burnout Syndrome. Therefore, the general objective was to discuss the factors that can lead nursing professionals, especially those who work in emergency units, to acquire Burnout syndrome, considering the stress that involves the profession. The research method used was the integrative review, with a qualitative approach. The results demonstrate that Burnout Syndrome represents a significant concern in nursing, affecting the well-being of professionals, and also the quality of care provided to patients. This study highlights the need for prevention and intervention strategies to ensure the health of nurses and the effectiveness of the health system as a whole.
