Abstract

Intradialytic complications during the hemodialysis session in patients with CRF include hypotension, cramps, nausea, vomiting, headache and allergic reactions. Hemodialysis represents an essential therapy for patients with Chronic Renal Failure (CRF), however, it is often accompanied by intradialytic complications that can compromise the safety and effectiveness of the treatment. This research investigates the main complications during hemodialysis sessions, with the main objective of understanding the prevalence, causes and impact of intradialytic complications on the quality of life and prognosis of patients with CRF undergoing hemodialysis. The methodology used was bibliographic review. The results demonstrate that complications such as weakness, cramps and hypotension are prevalent and can significantly impact patients' perception of health and quality of life. It was also possible to notice that the occurrence of complications such as headache, nausea, vomiting and cardiac arrhythmias are also recurrent. These complications can impact patients' quality of life, compromise the effectiveness of treatment and influence the prognosis. The frequency and severity of complications vary according to the patient's clinical condition, the hemodialysis technique used, the presence of comorbidities and other individual factors. In conclusion, intradialytic complications in the hemodialysis session in patients with CRF represent significant challenges that affect the safety and well-being of patients. The identification and understanding of these complications, such as intradialytic hypotension, muscle cramps, cardiac arrhythmias, respiratory distress syndrome and intradialytic hemorrhage, are crucial for clinical practice and for the implementation of effective preventive and therapeutic strategies.
