The act of late femicide is considered a heinous crime that is dealt with by specific legislation. In Brazil, the recognition and condemnation of feminicide as a distinct crime occurred relatively recently, specifically in 2015. With the implementation of Law No. 13,104/15, known as the Feminicide Law, the Brazilian Penal Code was amended to include a new aggravating factor for homicide: feminicide. This term refers to the act of killing a woman as a result of gender discrimination, arising from long-standing social expectations and norms imposed on women within patriarchal gender relations. In Brazil, gender inequality manifests itself explicitly, evident through various forms of violence against women, from moral and psychological to physical and sexual. The most extreme manifestation of this inequality is femicide, which is not an isolated occurrence but rather an ongoing pattern of violence. Femicide, as defined in this context, refers to the act of intentionally causing the death of a woman solely on the basis of her gender, which plays a significant role in the perpetration of the crime. This occurrence is the result of a convergence of gender, racial and socioeconomic factors.
