Abstract

Introduction: Cardiology is a crucial field of medicine, and advances in artificial intelligence (AI) are significantly shaping its practice. This review covers various applications of AI in cardiology, from diagnosis to treatment and monitoring of cardiovascular diseases. Objective: The objective of this literature review is to explore the various applications of artificial intelligence in cardiology, covering areas such as cardiovascular diagnosis, prediction of cardiac events, interpretation of electrocardiograms (ECG), personalization of treatment, remote monitoring, and optimization of cardiac procedures. Method: This is a comprehensive review, and selection of articles, a search was carried out in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) database. For the search, we used descriptors based on Decs, and thus created the search strategy: “Artificial intelligence” AND “Cardiology” AND “Machine learning”. Results: We explore how AI is being used to analyze medical images, predict cardiac events, interpret electrocardiograms, personalize treatments, monitor patients remotely, and optimize cardiac procedures. We also discuss the ethical, regulatory, and safety considerations associated with implementing AI in clinical practice. Conclusion: This review highlights the potential of AI to improve cardiology care, while also highlighting the importance of addressing ethical challenges and ensuring patient safety.
