This article proposes an in-depth analysis of the provision of alimony in cases of sole custody, exploring the legal implications and post-separation challenges. The primary objective is to understand the influence of legislation on the effectiveness of this process, considering the well-being of the children involved. The approach adopted involves a legal analysis based on a bibliographical review. The results highlight the complexity of the issue, emphasizing the need for legislation sensitive to family dynamics to ensure effective accountability and protect children's interests. It is concluded that the legal framework plays a crucial role in the regulation and equity of parental responsibilities, playing a vital role in the effective protection of children's rights and well-being in unilateral custody scenarios. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the legal issues involved, providing valuable insights to improve policies and practices related to maintenance accountability in sole custody contexts.
