Abstract

This article addresses the topic of continuing education and professional development of teachers, focusing on their contribution to the teaching-learning process. The main objective is to analyze how continuing education impacts the professional development of teachers and the quality of teaching offered to students. To this end, a bibliographical review was carried out that encompasses relevant studies and research on the topic. The results of the review indicate that continuing education contributes significantly to the professional development of teachers, providing them with tools and strategies to deal with the demands and diversities of the school environment. Furthermore, continued training promotes the construction of a culture of collaboration and sharing of experiences among teachers, strengthening teamwork and the exchange of good practices. With regard to the impact on the teaching-learning process, it is clear that well-trained and updated teachers tend to offer higher quality, more inclusive and contextualized education. Continuing training enables teachers to adopt more effective pedagogical approaches, which consider the individual needs and characteristics of students, thus promoting a more stimulating and meaningful learning environment. In short, this study highlights the importance of continuing training for the professional development of teachers and for improving the quality of teaching. Investing in teacher training is investing in the future of education, contributing to the integral development of students and the construction of a more fair and egalitarian society.
