Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive and fatal interstitial lung disease characterized by fibrosis and remodeling of the lungs. This review addresses the challenges and perspectives in the management of IPF, with a focus on identifying the most effective therapeutic strategies. Challenges include early diagnosis, disease heterogeneity, and lack of curative treatments. Future perspectives highlight the importance of a multidisciplinary approach, personalization of treatment, investment in translational research and the exploration of new therapeutic targets. Despite recent advances, management of IPF remains a significant clinical challenge, and innovative approaches are needed to improve clinical outcomes and quality of life for patients.
