Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the ability of a computer system or machine to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence. This includes the ability to learn, reason, solve problems, understand natural languages, recognize patterns and make decisions. Due to its advancement, it has been used in several areas, including Law. Therefore, this study aimed to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence in the national legal area. In the methodological field, a bibliographical review was carried out, based on scientific articles, books, periodicals, jurisprudence and current legislation on the respective topic. Data collection was carried out through databases such as Scielo, Google Scholar, among others, from 2018 to 2023. The results showed that AI is used to automate the review and analysis of legal documents, such as contracts, agreements and petitions. This saves time and reduces human errors. Additionally, machine learning algorithms are used to predict legal outcomes based on past cases and case law. This can help lawyers make strategic decisions. The integration of AI in the field of law can improve efficiency, reduce costs and provide valuable insights. However, it also raises ethical and legal questions, such as responsibility for decisions made by AI systems and the need to protect the privacy of the data involved. Therefore, the responsible and ethical use of AI in the field of law is an important consideration as this technology continues to evolve.
