Abstract

The international trafficking of children and adolescents for sexual exploitation is one of the most severe human rights violations, disproportionately affecting the youngest and most vulnerable in our society. This study aimed to conduct a detailed and critical analysis of the legal issues and global implications related to this heinous crime, examining its deep causes, the devastating consequences for the victims, and the international legal and political strategies that have been developed to address it. Through a bibliographic research methodology, this investigation was based on the review of literature from academic databases, specialized websites, digital libraries, and materials produced by organizations committed to children's rights and the fight against human trafficking. The results demonstrate that, despite progress in the development of international legal frameworks, such as the Palermo Protocol, which aim to facilitate transnational cooperation and offer protection to the victims, significant challenges still persist in the practical implementation of these policies and in the effective integration of protective measures for child and adolescent victims of this crime. The analysis revealed a growing global awareness and the adoption of robust legislation, establishing the foundations for international cooperation against the trafficking of minors. However, the effectiveness in applying these laws shows considerable variations between different countries, with some regions showing serious gaps in the protection of young victims and in the pursuit of those responsible for trafficking.
