Abstract

Protecting the elderly is a necessity in Brazil, and becomes more and more important every day. This occurs with the growth of contempt for these people and their demographic growth in Brazilian society. And with regard to the Rights of the Elderly, the Statute of the Elderly is a very important milestone in the Brazilian legal system. But it is necessary to understand that this legal text did not magically solve the problems. Although the Statute has brought a series of improvements and benefits, disrespect for the rights of the elderly continues.
