The psychosocial support provided by nurses to cancer patients and their families is a critical element in the treatment and recovery process, significantly influencing the quality of life and emotional well-being of those involved. This article reviews existing literature on the impact of this type of support, emphasizing holistic care practices that transcend physical cancer treatment. It addresses how early intervention adapted to the individual needs of patients and families can mitigate psychological stress, improve communication between patients, family members and the healthcare team, and strengthen social support networks. The analysis of the studies demonstrates that the active involvement of nurses in psychosocial support contributes to better adherence to treatment, reduction of anxiety and depression, and promotion of resilience in both patients and their caregivers.
