Introduction: Prenatal care is based on several elements that aims to detect and prevent early scenarios that endanger the health of the pregnant woman and the baby. Objective: To investigate the impacts caused by late prenatal care on fetal maternal health. Method: This is an integrative literature review study, through the databases of Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). Results: It was highlighted that measures are necessary to prevent the late prenatal period from continuing to happen. Conclusion: It was verified through the articles researched and analyzed that late prenatal care occurs more often than you think, and the factors that corroborate this event are mostly the same, low education, lack of family planning, socioeconomic inequalities among others.
