Hemophilia A is a hereditary disease that causes bleeding due to factor VIII deficiency. Bleeding resulting from traumatic processes is a common cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with hemophilia. The aim of this article is to report the case of a patient with hemophilia A who had closed abdominal trauma and retroperitoneal hematoma, treated with coagulation factor replacement and exploratory laparotomy. The article also reviews the literature on the epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of closed abdominal trauma in patients with hemophilia. The case highlights the importance of an early diagnosis and an adequate treatment of closed abdominal trauma in patients with hemophilia.
