Robotic surgery represents a significant technological innovation in surgical practice, offering surgeons improved precision, dexterity and visualization. The aim of the study is to highlight recent technological advances and clinical applications of robotic surgery in general surgery. Technological advances, such as the miniaturization of instruments and improvements in the ergonomics of the surgeon's console, have allowed for more precise and less invasive procedures. Robotic surgery is applicable to a variety of procedures in general surgery, including cholecystectomy, colorectal surgery, herniorrhaphy and pancreatectomy, providing benefits such as shorter hospital stays and faster recovery for patients. However, challenges such as the high cost of equipment and the learning curve for surgeons need to be considered. Despite these challenges, robotic surgery continues to play an important role in the evolution of general surgery, offering the potential for better clinical outcomes and an enhanced surgical experience for patients and surgeons.
