The problem theme of this research deals with the improvement of water quality carried out by the Social Environmental Program of Igarapés de Manaus (PROSAMIM) in the communities under its supervision, in order to verify the existence of environmental crimes by the program. Finally, the reason behind the work is the need to establish a more efficient, efficient and effective water treatment policy for streams. The objective of this study is to analyze PROSAMIM's actions in communities formed from precarious settlements located near streams, mainly highlighting water treatment in these locations. The research has a qualitative-quantitative methodological character and was carried out through analysis of theoretical references, such as those published in periodicals resulting from water evaluation research in the Manaus streams, and documentary data collection, such as data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and the Center for Metropolis Studies (CEM). The work ended with a critical analysis of the mechanisms currently used by the program to treat stream water until the observation of environmental damage resulting from the use of outdated means of redirecting waste present in stream waters.
