This work presents a bibliographic review with a descriptive and qualitative approach, aiming to analyze the role of nurses in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of trichomoniasis within primary care. The research was developed from studies published between 2020 and 2025, selected in databases such as Google Scholar, SciELO, PubMed, and LILACS, using descriptors related to the protozoan Trichomonas vaginalis and nursing practices. The review gathered evidence demonstrating the relevance of health education, screening, and clinical identification for the proper management of the infection, highlighting nurses as key actors in preventive actions and in guidance on condom use and partner treatment. It was also observed that the infection remains neglected, although associated with important complications, such as a higher risk of HIV transmission, preterm births, and low birth weight, reinforcing the need for continuous professional training. The results show that early diagnosis and proper management significantly contribute to reducing transmission and controlling the disease. Thus, the study highlights the importance of the nurse’s role in primary care as an essential strategy for addressing trichomoniasis and strengthening sexual and reproductive health practices.
