Shared custody emerges in the legal scene as a promising mechanism in the prevention of parental alienation. Parental alienation, extensively discussed and researched, has its historical roots deep in the evolution of children's rights and the conceptualization of family. Over time, this practice of parental estrangement was recognized as detrimental, culminating in the identification of Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS). The implementation of shared custody, focused on the balanced division of parental responsibilities, serves as a countermeasure to PAS, ensuring the child's well-being and preserving family ties. This study, grounded in a hypothetical-deductive method and using bibliographic research and documentary analysis, aims to investigate the efficacy of shared custody as a tool for preventing parental alienation.
