Nowadays, there has been a series of social transformations triggered by technological advances that have facilitated the execution of countless daily activities, both in the domestic tasks of people in general and in the commercial and industrial routine of organizations. These technological innovations transformed the world, replaced activities, enhanced the creation of new needs and established a new era known as “digital culture” or cyberculture. It is in this scenario of rapid changes that several sectors have tried to adapt to obtain the best results using the technological tools available to advance their activities. Education was also one of these sectors. With the arrival of the latest generation of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, educators and educational institutions are looking to adapt their methodologies and open new paths for teaching and learning. Given this, this article aims to analyze how recent innovations and AI tools, such as chatbots, can contribute to the development of new teaching methodologies and improve existing ones. To this end, scientific studies published in recent years that address the topic will be reviewed, analyzing the strategies used by teachers who already use these tools, their benefits and limitations in teaching and learning.
