CHRONIC PAIN IN THE ELDERLY ITS IMPACTS ON SOCIAL LIFE: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Objectives: To present, through a literature review, the impacts, effects and complications of chronic pain in the elderly, in the current social scenario. Methodology: This is a literature review work in which the Pubmed, Scielo and Google Scholar database was used, addressing the effects of chronic pain in the elderly, using the keywords: “Pain”, “Elderly” , “Social life” and “Impacts”. Results: It was found that chronic pain has negative effects on the daily lives of elderly patients, making it impossible to carry out some daily activities, as well as on the condition and quality of life of this population, secondarily manifesting effects in the family scenario. Furthermore, the importance of a multidisciplinary approach for these patients. Final considerations: It was observed, through studies, that chronic pain combined with aging can present important complications such as depression, anxiety, social isolation, sleep disorders, agitation, aggressiveness, impairment of cognitive function, functional disability and decreased quality of life. of life, leading to dependence on life activities.
