The present work has as its object of study the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The objective is to analyze the tools that make up an effective diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. This is an integrative literature review, an exploratory study with a qualitative approach using an inductive method, carried out in the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Sciences of Health (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), published in the last ten years (2011-2022). The selection of articles resulted in 19 publications where criteria that addressed the ASD diagnostic scales and criteria were considered. Therefore, discussions on this topic are essential to develop critical and qualified professionals. The objectives of the present study were met as the importance of the diagnosis of ASD and the main scales and forms of treatment available were highlighted.
